Invest in the Professional Chimney Repairs
Statistics suggest that over 22,000 home fires a year are caused by chimney fires. As a retired professional firefighter, Scott Kasper has witnessed the cause and effect of chimney fires firsthand. Chimney fires occur due to lack of cleaning as well as improper building and installation, and system degradation.
In Western Montana, chimneys experience a wide range of extreme hot and cold temperatures. The expansion and contraction of the masonry in the fireplaces due to these extreme temperatures can cause the masonry to crack and crumble, allowing smoke and fire access to the walls of your home. The two most common repairs due to masonry degradation are flu relines and firebox repairs/rebuilds.

Chimney Re-lining
When the clay tiles within the flue become cracked, the fireplace is unsafe and out of code. In order to remedy this situation, we reline chimneys using an appropriate metal liner made of stainless steel, and/ or titanium. These liners are specially designed to withstand temperatures that would disintegrate clay tile.
Our liners are impervious to rain and water damage and are easier to clean and maintain than clay tiles. Most liners have a lifetime GUARANTEE. All of our chimney relining is done by Scott Kasper who has his contractor’s license, over 20 years of experience working with chimneys, and is a second generation chimney professional.
Firebox Repairs and Rebuilds
The firebox is the part of the fireplace that holds the fire. In a code-worthy firebox, the firebrick is stacked and held together with high-temperature fireplace mortar. Over time, these joints can become loose or crack and even fall out. Occasionally, the brick will deteriorate and begin to crumble as well. This is an extremely dangerous condition which renders the fireplace unsafe and out of code.
Depending on the severity of the conditions, we remedy this situation by cutting out and replacing the mortar (tuckpointing) or rebuilding the firebox. All of our masonry and masonry products are UL listed for fireplace repair and installation applications. Repairing and rebuilding fireboxes is a talent that requires expertise and experience as well as a contractor’s license. Scott Kasper has been rebuilding fireboxes for over 20 years. He specializes in modernizing old fireplaces while maintaining their historic aesthetics.
